1. Make a loop with the two strands on one side (that goes in between the strand straight across and the perpendicular strand farthest away) make a loop with the other three strands parallel to the first loop.
2. Take one of the strands (not looped) over the first loop closest to it, under the second, over the third, and under the fourth closest loop.
3. Do the same with the other three strands. (that are not looped)
4. Pull all eight strands to tighten. This is considered a "twist" layer.
